    Epson C64 Photo Stylus printer

Firstly sorry for posting this in the wrong section, but need a quick response.

Th emissus got me the above printer, and for love nor money I cant install the bugger. Took my old printer off and plugged my new printer in its place (ie used the same power/usb leads)

When it install for some reason it automatically sets it to lhrpt1, so changed that to usb, but wont print. Part way thru' installation it comes up with a message saying turn it on, so the computer can test it ??? The fugger was already on. Windows recognises theres a new usb printer there but none of my programs will print to it ???

Any ideas before I return it (again coz the first one had the same probs and was broken too)

    Ta

    Andy

Remove all printer drivers, reboot then follow the instructions again, make sure its off before it asks for you to turn it on once its installed reboot again.

I've found some usb devices need the drivers installed before you plug them in, otherwise it will never work.

As Clint said remove everything, including the printer, and install the drivers and software first.

Already tried that the first time ! When I follow the instructions and it tells me to turn it on Windows jumps in saying its recognised a usb printer, brings up the 'do you want to use the software supplied, (yes) and then goes off saying its not certificated ??? and there may be a problem ???

Re: Epson C64 Photo Stylus printer

Right, just started from scratch does the following:

    1) Run supplied software and gets to 'Turn printer on'. On doing this the Hardware wizard springs into action.

    2) I select the install supplied software from the wizard option list

    3) reads cd brings up a list of files, I select the first one (the rest seem to be different languages)

    4) Brings up " There was a problem installing this hardware:
    Epson USB printer
An error ocured during the installation of this device. The required section was not found in the INF

Thats it, it will then install everything else but wont blinkin' work ??????

Re: Epson C64 Photo Stylus printer

I bought an Epson CX6400 last week and the only problem I had installing it was that I had to use a high speed USB instead of one in my bus port cos it couldn't handle it apparently.Simple case of just swapping ports.Might be worth a try ?

Re: Epson C64 Photo Stylus printer

Surely it must be the right one ? Its in the same usb slot as the old printer.

Anyway tried again, this time cancelling the hardware wizard, the first time it couldnt find anything saying check its the right printer and connected correctly then press retry. Retried and its now saying:

" The printer is set to PORT. To use a printer on a network, change the printer port as necessary"

Re: Epson C64 Photo Stylus printer

    righto, wheres the device manager

FOUND it, 2 usb ports which is right ??? never had any probs with them before so guessing its not them.

Finally loaded the software, but after the 'set to PORT' bit an now theres no printer icon for the Epson in PRinters and fax's only the cannon one (yesterday I had both there ) I think I've been beaten and it looks like a trip to PC world to kick somebody !

Re: Epson C64 Photo Stylus printer

    it sure is Paul.

The saga continues. Took the printer back and they went to check it, but dropped it on the floor !!!

They got a new one and checked that. I watched them print a piccy and everything is hunky dorey. Now i get this one home (this one being printer number 3) and it still does the same problems ? I've noticed this time that it is registering there is no ink in any of the 4 cartridges ?? yet at PC World it defiantley was ??

Somebody please help before I return it to PC world and insert it up the managers nostril !

Re: Epson C64 Photo Stylus printer

Have the cartridges been taken out at any point??? If so is there a small circuit board type thing on the side. Cos this tells the printer how much ink is left i think...but once the cartridge is removed then it wont work til the circuit board is reset..and thus register as no ink.

This happened with my epson printer...even the mobile technicion bloke didnt know about the ink cartridge reset thing til he rang up head office

Re: Epson C64 Photo Stylus printer

Finally, after 3 printers and nearly 4 days of trying to get the damn thing to work.... I can finally print !!!

Only way I could get the computer to recognise it was buy using a parallel lead ???? Wouldnt recognise that it was an Epson C64 via the USB just a usb printer. Plugged in the parallel lead and everythings hunky dorey ?????

Any ideas ? Would getting a USB 2 lead solve this (although my computers only a usb1 ???)
