Cossie Powered Mk1 Cortina

As i have now had a lot of emails from various people asking me about my mk1 cortina project i thought it was about time i put a post up!
I brought the car as a rolling shell with a few bits and bobs at first sight the shell seemed ok with only the usual rust areas to sort out. The original plan was quit simple, but things just took hold and the shell was sent to gartrac, The shell is being fully worked over new inner & outer sills, rear arches, back pannel, front pannel, wings, door skins the list goes on they have also done all the fabricating work so it will take the cossie engine and box. so while it is there it would be rude not to have works done to it and when i say works i did not relise just how much goes into a race spec shell, it is now like having a grp4 escort set up in a mk1 cortina shell. or as puddy re-named it a corscort!!
the engine is out of a previous project and is of a good spec, not up to some of your power out puts i know but it aint a slow one.
i will post more as the project goes i hope to have it finished this year touch wood the money will last out!!

any body looking ,take a close look at the front chassis rails forwards of the bulkhead,a work of art! they have been raised about 3-4 inches along with the custom fabricated x member to 'drop' the body height without any detriment to the suspension geometry, sheer bloody genius from the main man ,dave at Gartrac. The 4 link boxes are also very high to do the same,I know as I've seen it in the flesh and these pics don't do it any justice, more pics please jim puddy

Sure is a work of art
I was trying to fathom out what had been done (I'm no expert on tina's) but a bit hard to tell from those little pics, I take it that's a sierra tunnel in there too?

can we have some bigger pics please?

Cheers

Re: Cossie Powered Mk1 Cortina

the work done so far is......
new inner sills, new outer sills, two new floor sides, weld in sierra gearbox tunnel, new boot floor, 4 link boxes and bars, baby atlas made up, 21/4 adjustable bilstiens for the back, watts link brackets plus kit, steped floor for diff clearence, moddified front chassis rails, new a pannels fitted, rear lower corners and back valance fitted, new front turrets with built in 1degree negitive camber, scratch built front cross member, engine mounts made to run off the chassis rail, bilstien front struts, tension strut kit brackets made and fitted. about £7000 so far but you have got to remember parts arnt cheap
and if you want it done to the highest standards it costs money. i would not of taken the car to anyone else but gartrac
as i know it will be the ultimate, and i wont be fobbed off with stuff i dont wont, but when you go ther it is really hard not to say oh can you do this to it can you do that to it as they have got a lot of cars having work done to diffrent specs, you see something nice and you know you would like it done to your own car,
work still to be don at gartrac is
front pannel and wings to be put on rollcage to be welded in, single piece prop to be made, big brake kit to be done, alloy door cards to be made, alloy header tank, alloy fuel tank with twin fillers to be sorted, + what ever catches my eye when i next go down there.

at the end of the day the cost is not relevent but dont tell my wife!!!!!!!!!!
the whole car by the time it's finished who knows ££££££££
but i see a lot of people who spend £30k upwards and the cars are still rotting away.
there will be some more pictures next week as i will be popping down the gartrac to see how things are moving on!!

Jim you have chromed everything, you must have been a pikey in your previous life.

And what do you mean Rob's the one who is going to do it for me, remember jim he built your P100 for you, and you copied his MK1 idea, so how the hell can you tell me to get ideas of my own.

love parrot

Yep i have and i know a lot of people wont like it but it is going to be imperial blue i now it should be an old school colour but i dont like any apart from the white & green lotus colours and i dont want people to say it's a lotus lookalike
and any way it needs to be a bit different dont you think!!

I know Dr cossie pud would rather i did it red and gold!!
