    old skool Tamiya :)

Following on from Panza's post I thought I would take a quick piccie of my cabinet in the front room, form top to bottom we have Hornet, Sand Scorcher, Wild willy (yeah seriously) and Super Champ, I have about 8 more old tamiya's but there in various states of rebuild, none of em work except the SS but there just pure nostalgia for me

    Enjoy

and yeah they are lethal money now, well the good ones are anyway

Nice one - I started off with a Tamiya Falcon

My brother rebuilt it last year using bits from e-bay - I'll have to get him to send me some pics !

Fantastic. The WIld Willy's was THE rc-car to have way back when. I used to stand at the rc shop looking at the promotional video when I was a kid. Those all look completely minted mate!

I briefly got into racing rc cars with a british built heavy weight I had. The absolute ultimate car to have then was... (the name escapes me) but it was 4x4 and 4 wheel sterring and used to get a handicap cause it was that good. Any ideas what it was called...? The box showed a green car I think.

Duplex the old skool Tamiya number 1 was the Click here for a bit of nostalgia

I used to run the TA01 chassis I think. It was the Escort Cosworth. I spent a mint on that.

Nice 1 m8 I used to have a hornet and my m8 had a super champ with the metal chassis, he couldn't get spares for it back then so imagine the price it would go for complete on Ebay!

kyosho was the best make back then, when the optima came out it thrashed all hotshots and supershots, then the optima mid did the same a couple of years later. Shumacher cat was the next beast but still didnt have the quality of kyosho.

cheers For the comments peeps, I have an optima turbo waiting to be done, an also an original team associated RC 10 (gold tub) which was THE car to have when I was about 12 I prefer the old tamiya stuff though, the ones in the cabinet have all been rebuilt the ss is as new apart from i still need to get round to doing the original blue/white colour scheme and putting on the original decals (I have a full brand new old stock set) then I just need to do my rough rider and ford ranger to keep the ss company, this is as well as my full size mexico, supersport and RD 350 LC projects

MogsMex, you legend! I thought I was the only one who had a Tamiya Rough Rider. Geez, I bought that in the early 80's! Heavy bugger though! All I had to replace was the front suspension and tyres. I'm hoping to do a full resto soon, just got to find a willing fitter and turner to make some stuff for it. I also have an Associated RC12e, just try to find parts for either of these two today!

Mark if you do its addiscombe side of the PTA garage near the shirley library, towards the crown, and its got a black shop front which says "budget trophies" and then under says "s.p.e.c. racing" you should spot it a mile off tho lol
