I'm restoring my 1968 escort mk1 and i have this factory piece in my front panel

They are cooling holes for the air flow to go through the rad. I would keep them given the heat where you are in the world

i'm not talking about the holes on the panel

if you look closer to the picture where is the red circle is a small piece of a panel that goes just below the 2 big holes and above the small circle hole. thats the one that i don't have a clue why is there.

I also have one of these on my early mk1-according to David (willid1) its listed in the parts book as air deflector and it appears not many escorts were fitted with them.

thanks mexeco, is any real value of keeping it as i wanted to fit quarter bumpers instead of the standard bumper?

Personally I'd try and unpick it carefully if you're fitting quarter bumpers and keep hold of it you never see them for sale. :wink:

I think it must have been another one of those Ford parts that the engineers said was needed but the bean counters said wasn't.

Just noticed the one on your car and the one in the drawing are opposite ways up!!
