I've been preparing several of these 3 ltr (and 2,5 Ltr) engines for circuit racing years ago. On my dyno, for sure they did not fit "normal" Ford bolt pattern.

Maybe they fit the new Duratec 2ltr pattern. One of my customers did ran a 2,3 ltr duratec before switching to 3 ltr V6. Maybe mated to the same gearbox. Duratec bellhousing is available for the T9 box.

Indeed both Duratec but the 2 Ltr and 2,3 Ltr are of course both 4 in line bricks. Are these related when it comes to bolt pattern? I've never had a 4 cylinder in.

i don't know to be honest and would not want one, just the V6 and maybe the new cyclone which is supposed to be a very good engine with steel internals , ginetta use them to good effect getting very good power also morgen cars use them as std fitment . used in the new mustang and F series trucks.have a look online its easy to find just punch in ford cyclone engine.

Mark, maybe the V6 type 9 gearbox will have the correct bolt pattern?

i highly doubt it, thats very similar to the old inline pattern, and im sure the S220 is very different.

    Re: S220 V6 3.0 onto ford bell housing ?

Old V6 are for sure NOT the same. Yes, V6 Jag have same pattern. Had them on my dyno to. (maybe also V8, I will let you know in couple of weeks, have to fit an aftermarket ECU on a V8 compressor engine in a couple of weeks). Maybe you can find the bellhousing for V6 Jag's to T9. This will work.

These engines are fine, response well to 6 throttle plates and a set of regrind cams (Piper does one set). Little room between the valves and piston so they grind them with very wide lobes but works pretty well. For a little more power, machine deeper valve pockets and retime the cams with smaller lobe centers.

First thing let go are the standard con rods. Look nice made but are not so for high RPM's. We also had to improve the sump once the car was handling better. I made the sump little deeper, fitted slots.

PS, the V8 engine was original fitted with auto box. I do know they now have fitted a Rover diesel gearbox.

the ford based v8 jag lumps are totally different bolt pattern to either 4 cyl duratec or old v6

i believe the jag/ford and mazda are similar and maybe share the same engine code but then again not shure thats just reading of google.

    Re: S220 V6 3.0 onto ford bell housing ?

    Hi all,
Iv have bellhousing machined / fabricated from the front cut of the Jaguar gearbox to take a type 9 / Quaife sequential face.

Im currently having a second one done to sell as we speak and may get another done if there is any interest?

However due to using the front cut of the Jag box the bellhousing is quite large!

PS: i realise this is an old thread but there does seem to be quite a few building projects with these engines including myself
