Hi,
I finished re-doing the engine mounts and i am much happier now. But since the engine shifted over i had to cut the exhaust manifold and reweld it as it hit the chassis rail.
Hopefully going to stick the car back on the spit to finish welding the underside then send it off for paint,
Thanks for looking,
Aaron
See her poking her bum out yesterday whilst try a find sum where to park fro the car show,
Moving along now
Great looking welds, i assume you are using the clarke TIG unit i saw in the background on one pic further up the thread. How do you find this as i would love to have a go at TIG it seems a much neater weld than MIG (well mine anyway). I assume yo u had to buy the TIG torch and use gas as well also what filler fods do you use etc.
Many thanks
Thanks, The maldon show was really impressive, no 2002's though.
The clark TIG is not great and I would only recommend it to someone with previous TIG welding experience not something to learn on. It does do the job though and very cheap compared to all the proper TIGs you can get. If you can afford buy one with a foot pedal. The clark one relies on scratch starting the arc which can be annoying especially in confined spaces. Its a very basic welder so amps are constant you can't vary the amps whilst welding.
Thanks,
Aaron
Hi,
Havn't updated in a while. Still been busy slowly getting through small jobs.
Finished the dry build so stripped the car down.
painted the underneath
seam sealed
Finished welding the e30 rear beam
e30 beam painted.
note to self do not earth through a braided brake line when welding
I've stripped the swing arms so just need to paint and replace the bearings, bushes and brake lines. The things take their time.
Got a fibreglass spoiler from Jaymic, just need to work out how to mount it :/
Also went to BMW festival in gaydon and took a couple of pics.
love these seats
Thanks for looking
Sweet wheels!
Really liking the look of this, keep up the good work mate
New Update.
The car is now painted. Great guy from Romford area done a really nice job. Definitely recommend his work let me know if you want contact details. Just waiting for the arches to be finished
Took 3 days off work in order to water proof it. Didn't quite manage it but it is almost there.
Sound proofing in roof.
Head liner in. Not the best at installing them, a few wrinkles but good enough for me.
Front an Rear windows in.
Rear quarters and door glass in.
Looking for a few parts to finish of the glass install. I am missing parts 17, 18, 20, 21 from the link below
https://www.wallothnesch.com/en/vehi...ure-51-34.html
and parts 11 and 12 from this link
https://www.wallothnesch.com/en/vehi...ure-51-35.html
So if anyone has a second hand door and is willing to split some parts out of it i would be interested.
Also when trimming the rear quarter rubbers does the main long rubber sit underneath the hinge rubber? Any photos would be gratefully received.
Thanks for the comments.
Fantastic build thread!
Looking well good..came out realy nice...like the color choice...was the respray expensive...cheers mark
Nearly there now.
Keep going.
Great work.
Thanks for the kind words.
Picked up some new seats. Who can guess what they are?
I had to cut the seat supports out of the car and the seats bolt straight onto the floor. They fit really well otherwise are quite small and lightweight very comfortable and fully adjustable. Tilt forward to let people in the back. They are even heated for those cold winter nights.
Everything is very expensive at the moment as my headlight reflectors need replating or replacing and my heater is passed repair. Anyone got any freebees?
Thanks,
Aaron
Well done mate Thats looking cool as feck
Nice car that
Now I own a 2002 and also put an S2000 in my Sunbeam. How is this car coming on.
Did you finish it?
Old skool forever
Just don`t tell the wife
