Hello from Canada - Mk1 Escort Rally Car

    Hi!

I just bought a Mk1 Escort rally car project - fitted with a Cosworth YB turbo. I bought it from a friend on the other side of Canada and just spent four days towing it 4700km (3000mi) back across the country. He's done a lot of the initial prep work to build it into a rally car, but I've still got a fair amount of work to do. 90% done, 90% to go.

I'm planning for a modern race interior, while keeping the exterior as period as possible. I'll start a build thread (race car forum probably?) soon. Here's a few photos to start. I'm looking forward to tapping into the knowledge base here, as we don't have (m)any escorts over this side of the pond! I have many questions already...

    Somewhere in the prairies...

The final push through the mountains to BC...

Home in the garage finally...with it's new friends...

    Some details...

    Cheers,
    Warwick

I have a MK1 in California. There are a few others around the washington area. Im not sure what class you are planing to run with a YB. I would go retro rather than modern on the interor of this car.

    Hi James,

Good to know there are a few around. I'm pretty green when it comes to Escorts, so I'm learning on the fly. I'm not sure I'm going to keep the YB in the long term. Our rally regs have a minimum weight limit for turbo cars, and I'd love a screaming NA motor anyways. Maybe a more modern duratec... First step is to get the shell up to my standards, get the wiring and fuel plumbing done, then can worry about the motor.
