LSD and halfshafts in English axle
This is a really basic question, but could anyone tell me if the halfshafts have to be changed when fitting an English LSD like the ones advertised by Peter Lloyd Rallying for £350 ? Is it necessary to use uprated items ?

A Standard LSD should NOT require the halfshafts to be changed, however if you use uprated halfshafts such as from Quaife, these usually have more teeth on them than standard halfshafts (they're fooking HUGE) and will require the side gears in the LSD to be changed to accomodate them.

Standard shafts will fit straight into the LSD no problems. Wouldn't bother with the quaiffe ones, as I hane already wrecked one with my X-Flow, and on the new one have had to make up a locking system to stop the nut holding the flange to the shaft coming undone,

Re: LSD and halfshafts in English axle
I have just seen the ad for an English LSD at PLR, as advertised in Classic Ford. If I remember rightly it was £350... sounds OK to me.

Re: LSD and halfshafts in English axle
Is this just the LSD or is it the complete thing, i.e ; diff carrier, crown wheel and pinion, bearings, seals, side gears etc etc ?
If it's just the LSD you will need the rest and someone to build it up for you.
Second hand complete built up diffs (with LSD) go for around the £350-£400 range.
