Windscreen Wiper Motor

My existing wiper motor didn't park which I assumed was the parking switches in the motor itself. Someone very kindly gave me a new motor which I fitted. However when the wipers are parked they want to move in the wrong direction. I can move the crank on the motor by 180 degrees but I am not sure this will have any impact. The only other thing I can think of is that the motor is from a left hand drive car.

Any ideas?

what sort of wiper gear ???if its lucas, you can move the arm 180 degree without altering the switch
