    petrol??

    erst s2 , had my top end re-built and car set up and runs lovely bloke who did it told me i should use super or optimax which i am doin just a thought tho as unleaded is cheaper will i do and damage running un leaded ? my mate says when the cars came out the factory they ran on leaded then converted to unleaded ,there wasent even any super or optimax about which is very true any help?? the engine is standard

    if its been chipped then use super unleaded, if not then i think its fine to use normal unleaded

    id use optimax or ultimate myself... especially if it's been chipped/tuned up at all.

    using fuel with less ORN rating can lead to pinking/detonation and melting something.

    my cam was worn do u think it was coz i was using normal un leaded?

    so why u think the cam worn? he last owner had a new one fitted and she only dove it about from home to work whats the millages life of a standard cam

    Probably didnt change the followers/tappets as well which she should of done

    the bloke showed me when he took the head off one of the followers/tappets had a hole in the bottom of it and he said thay dshouldent have a hole in the bottom lol and one of the nobbly bits on the cam was worn down so it wasent opening some thing , its a different car alltogether now its done

    i filled my tank up with un leaded and it runs fine but i have noticed it dosent run as quick as the optimaxit stikll quick and still runs fine but there was more punch when it had optimax in the tank

    Cams only last about 90k in the CVH. If the engine starts tapping noisily, it's likely to be one of the tappets at the cam belt end of the engine, probably the exhaust one. A new tappet will sort it for a while, but really you should consider a brand new cam and tappets, properly installed, then you should be fine for another 90k. It's important to change the oil quite often, at least every 10k, but more often is even better. Always change the filter at the same time, and use a good synthetic or semi-synthetic oil.
