after messing about for hours and hours and essentially fucking up my base map i am now in desperate need of some help.
im hoping someone had ms2 map for a 2.0 blacktop zetec running ITBS that they wouldnt mind sending me over just so i can get the car running for a MOT and then off to a RROAD.

    any help greatly appreciated

    thanks

Just the spark table. So I'm not quite sure why it now doesn't run now but I'm sure it's map related as I know I've got fuel spark and it's run before the map was changed.

Re: ms2 2.0 zetec map required

or flooded ? i would think spark is most tolerant ? fill it full of 10 deg and it should run ...............
have you changed anything else , tps calibration , (by moving idle point) etc.

warming it up will also change fueling which may make it harder to idle ...........

does it fire up fine but fail to idle ?

It doesn't fire at all. Just large bangs from both itbs and exhaust. I've cranked it over without the pump on a few times to clear any food and the ms has flood clear setup anyway. I'm trying to find some pictures of my tables now.

Are you tps based ? Load starts at 20 percent which seems odd. Will look at mine in a bit but I'm sure graham may be able to help.

Re: ms2 2.0 zetec map required

Yea it's tps. The more I think about it the more It can't be the map causing me issues. The ms do sent use the fuel maps or spark tables until it sees at least 800 rpm below that it uses a constant 10 degree (cranking advance). So my issue must be elsewhere. I've taken plugs out which were inevitably soaked in fuel. So I've burnt that off with a blowtorch and cleaned up with a brush but still no change when I put them back in.

Cheers buddy. I'll have a play around with the spark tomorrow and make sure it'a strong enough. Try a new set of plugs etc. And then I can mess with tables using yours as a guide. Thanks

as i said somewhere, are you sure the pressure reg is connected up correctly? if the in and outlet are reversed you will have MASSIVE pressure at the rail and it will just dump huge amounts of fuel into the engine

Is ignition 180 degrees out ie 1+4 swopped with 2+3? Big Bangs are usual symptom?

I've checked the reg and as far as I'm aware they are the right way around. In on the bottom out on the side.?. Ivery messed with the cranking advance and moved it down to 8 degree and it seems more willing to start but is still banging a lot of flame back up the intakes.

They are the correct way round. I had that issue when I first fired it up. Ecu wires were wrong way round.

the thing is - if it did run then its something you changed.
changing more things (settings ) will only make it worse in long run

Re: ms2 2.0 zetec map required

Got it running by lowering the fuel pressure right down. Still struggles to start and often kicks back whilst trying to start. I have worked out its got an air leak as with the throttle fully closed it idles at 2k. Quick vid so you can see how it's behaving.

rather than lowering pressure, adjust the overall fuelling with setting "req fuel" it alters it right across map. also basic settings below

Re: ms2 2.0 zetec map required

so. still not running. checked the fuel settings and it was set up and 21ms way to much! so I've adjusted that down to 7.1 to match yours. had the itbs off and back on to hopefully cure the air leak. checked the idle screws to make sure there roughly right. made a few slight changed to the map around he 2k rpm mark. I'm now 90 percent confident the maps are setup right and should run nicely if only i could get the fucker to start.

less poping and banging now but still no start. cranking advance is down to 8 deg but it seems a lot more eager to start.
when cranking ill get a good strong crank unitll it tries to fire and then it will stop as if something is stoping it from turning.

ive had it starting today a few time will idle really lumpy for 2 to 3 seconds and then die seems to be roughly 1 in every 10 tries that it will try to start.

the other thing I've noticed is there is black marks up the insides of the itbs asif the fuels igniting before the valve closes.

that cam timing hasn't been changed since the engine was put in and it has run since then so i can rule that out as a issue.

Re: ms2 2.0 zetec map required

Have you checked the crank sensor position in relation to TDC - usually done with a timing light, as although the map timing may say 8 degrees you could be a few degrees out and thus still too advanced - the 'bouncing off' of the starter when approaching TDC could be symptomatic? Might be worth checking?

Re: ms2 2.0 zetec map required

ok so I'm sure your getting as bored as i am with this now so hopefully someone out there can help with the last problem.

engine is/was running. started quite reliably on the third or forth attempt and would run okish.. started car up thismoring after wiring the fan in and went to run it to temp to make sure the fan worked ok ect ect. engine warmed up and then stalled. I'm pretty sure to do with the idle screw on the itbs so thats no real issue that can be easily sorted when attempting to restart it the battery went flat. so i put that on charge and set about doing some nitty gritty bits whilst i waited, decided to neaten up some of the loom and since putting the loom back on the engine it now won't start. I've traced the problem down to what i think is the coil pack wiring because the issue is only present when i coils are switched on. when cranking the ecu pulses in and out of sync and pulses the fuel pump on and off I've taken a video so you can see what I'm trying to explain. first attempt is with the coil on seccond with i off. I've not cut or modified the loom in any way simply unplugged and plugged back in.

i would suspect you have a crank sensor related issue, either a bad sensor or wiring/connection fault

issue sorted. turns out the hall sensor from the original zetec loom wasn't shielded so i was getting noise interference from the coil wiring. re ran the hall wires down the other side if the bay and no more pulsing.. then spent an hour trying to work out why it wouldn't start before i realised it had ran out of petrol
