mex carb

hi ive a mex with a 16 xflow engine is bored out to 1700 ive a 32/36dgav carb on it when i bought carb it was on a pinto manifold car starts and tics over ok but gives off loads of fumes smells as if it is to rich when i take plugs out they are all sooted up is it posible to adjust mixture or are the jets to big anyone any ideas thanks jimmy

It could possibly be that the main jets are too big mate it might be an idea to try and get it set up on a rolling road
