Do you use FM radio gear in your nitro car?

Just wondered whether it's standard practice to use FM radios. I have an old futaba handset but I remember its transmission range was very limited so I think it may be AM. Do RTR kits come with AM or FM radios?
If the car is very fast, it's gonna be out of range in a matter of seconds!

Are FM radios subject to crystals aswell??? Or does it work on a different basis?

mines FM, and yes they do still need crystals, unless you buy a REALLY expensive one. Fm is more resistant to inteference too.

yeah, mine came with the truck, its not brilliant, i shall change it for a better one soon as im a bit more flush, but it does the job.

Most RTRs (ready to run) come with radio gear, gotta be carefull ordering from the states, they sometimes supply 75 mghz and thats our cop car frequency, naughty naughty!
