What is the best way to...

...lower my Escort. I've got a Mk2 1.3 Escort and want it lowered by 2". The back is easy, simply put in the lowering blocks. But the front i'm not so sure about. Some people I've spoken to just say cut 2" out of the springs, others replace with Capri 2.8 gear. I also think Burton sell 2" lowered front suspension for the Escort (but dont quote me on that!). So just wondered what you people on here thought I should do. You havn't steered me wrong in the past so im counting on you!!

    Thanks

    Matt

just buy the proper lowered springs for the front, they are only cheap, maybe get a slightly higher poundage on em too, but dont go mad for a road car.

get yourself a pair of spring compressers and you can change em by just unbolting the top of the strut and leaning it forwards in the arch if your clever.

    Cheers popup,

Think ill go with the buying the proper lowered springs. My dad says he has a pair of spring compressors so theres no probs there. Makes the whole process sound much less daunting i gotta admit!

    thanks

    Here's another tip.

Get a long bar that will go over the anti roll bar and under something suitable near the sump. Jack the car up and put axle stands under the front axle/cross member. With the car on the axle stands and your foot levering the bar down you should have just enough clearance to change the springs without removing tca's etc.
