Re: Worst car you've driven ?

I had the misfortune of being a given a vauxhall zafira (I think) as a courtesy car by the AA to get me home from the wild west of the highlands once.

I'm not fussy about ordinary cars, as long as they are reasonably "interactive". A local bodyshop gave me a mk1 ka which I loved. A mate who runs a garage has a mk1 focus 1.6 as a courtesy car and it's a lovely thing to drive. My son has a mk1 Disco that i use all the time and really like. My everyday mode of transport is a transit custom. I've had loads of old land rovers that aren't exactly the last word in refinement or driving dynamics.

All this just to say that I'm not a car snob!

This Vauxhall was an utterly hateful thing.

    1. No steering feel whatsoever. None, literally. I had no idea what the front wheels were doing
    2. It had a "semi-automatic" gearbox - basically an auto but you had to push buttons to change gear - no drive mode. Each gearchange made you hit you head on the headrest it was so rough.
    3. Engine was wheezy, rough-revving and sounded like a hoover.
    4. Driving position was awful, Seats had no support and just a 150 mile drive left me with horrendous backache.
    5. All the controls were either cheap, scratchy, hard plastic or cheap, rubbery, sloppy rubbish
    6. It was thirsty AF!

This was maybe in 2013 and the car was less than a year old. Why anyone bought one I have no idea.

They cant be all bad, they are very popular amongst my customers which include quite a few taxi drivers

Fiat 500L as a hire car as it was all they had left, I wonder why. When I dropped it back and told them I would never have it again they told me everyone said the same and they were getting rid of it.

...and another one- Nissan Stanza, forerunner to the Bluebird (also available in other colours). With this car Nissan seemed to jettison Japanese common sense and try a bit of sixties French logic in the building of the Stanza. Just shit really.

(Getting a lot off my chest with this thread lol.)

Not so much a candidate for worst car but certainly biggest disappointment was the new RS Focus 4/5dr.

I was so hoping I would really like it as it ticks a lot of boxes for me.

350 HP. 350 lb-ft torque. umm...Well it certainly didnt feel like it to me. Very Very disappointing.
Interior was very low rent, Just wasnt special enough, Silly exhaust pops and bangs was the real deal breaker for me. Im past all that.
Maybee the next generation one might hit the spot.
