Welcome. I have also just bought a mk1 project... most of the hard work was done so only a few bits for me to do.
Post up some pics of yours and let us know how youre getting on.
Nice project Mk1 with an St170 would be nice. ST170 I think will be a much easier fit than the duratec - exhaust on the passenger side, will fit a standard ford RWD bell housing, basically a zetec so loads of mounts/sumps etc. about. I would be tempted to put the Chestersportscars bike carb/nodiz and VCT controller kit on it, nice easy fit. Good luck with the project.

The body seems solid.
Just need to check the floor panels and the rails.
The boot is rust free, so is the engine bay
Ordered the gr4 kit from gartrac
