    Re: Rusty wing ???

Looking good dave, agreed the wheel size looks much better

As for the dirt, looks wrong as its going vertically! If you want il get a pic of mine tomorrow in the light as its filthy! But for now it tends to flick up towards the back of the car. And the dirt seems to flow up the wing tops/shaped bit of bonnet area towards the windscreen from the grille on mine

    Re: Rusty wing ???

A pic would be GREAT ! Thanks !

That was just a test .. to see if I could combine dirt over the wing paint and side stripe.

Real pictures showing me how dirt accumulates on a MK 1 would be great - especially muddy and even a little rusty ..

Yes .. That is a tree freshener Glad it was noticed !!!

    Re: Rusty wing ???

Thats amazing mate, my hat is off to you... but you really got to do a mk2 now lol, i would just love to see a black unarched mk2 with 13 by 7 minilights, and then maybe if your feeling up to it, a garage with a flat out arched mk2 and a bubble arched mk1 fresh from competing in a rally, then you can print them and do a special turbosport batch for which i wouldnt mind paying for if they come out half as good as they look on here..
    Cheers Mike

    Re: Rusty wing ???

Pics as promised dave, it might not look too dirty in the pics as its road dirt not rally slag dirt, but the full size ones show up the dirt a bit better so if you want them just say and il email them to you

The wing top bit i was on about!

    Battle scars??

    Few streaks...

splattered rear....full size ones show it all up the 1/4

    Dirty arse

Rusty door bottoms for your rust fetish

Hope they are of some help mate

Re: Computer 3D model Mk I Escort

Well done mate thats very impessive ,liked the comment about a dusty restoration waiting to be started, would make an excellent print as a barn find with a thick layer of dust/cobwebs rust spots etc.

Think you d be very popular if you started doing personalised prints for people,or even just pics for people who wanted to see their car in a different colour or with different rims etc.

Plain Diamond white with 7" superlites gets my vote!!

Stunning work Dave , I saw your earlier stuff on the AVO owners website a few months ago. Is there anymore photos you need of the car? let us know and keep up the good work.

    Update

    Thanks guys !

Thanks for those pics DangerousDave, very useful. I started to have a go at making it dirty ... I'll post an early test soon. If anybody has any pics of a MK1 with a bit of dirt and mud on it (nothing too wild) I'd be glad to see them !

Yup, GS are not using my image anymore.

I have been testing with the new renderer (same technology as that used in Staer Wars II ) - Early days yet, but looks like the final result will be very realistic. It is more like studio lighting .. I have modified the lower part of the front panel to give it that little lip you can usually see ... now spending some time on the car as well as the lighthing.

Early pic (it is LOW quality as a test) :

And a little test pic I made earlier :

OH MY GOD. That is truly amazing, and i dont think i have EVER seen anything as goos as this before. Your work is excellent, and i am SOOO impressed and dead jealous that you can do it. Surely you should do it as a job or something? people pay stupid amounts of money for this type of stuff. What ever you do, DO NOT leave this site. and make sure you finish all your work as its the bollox. I love the garage aswell, its so realistic. You should do some other models like the 3dr cosworth/MK2 escort, i would gladly pay someone to do this for me, and i bet other people on here would to.

Again, excellent job, and you have a gifted skill. it looks the nuts.

    Mike

P.S: cant believe i have only just found this thread???

    Check this out !

Mmm ... I think it is getting more realistic ...

Still want to tweak the front panel .. and add the interior mirror, seat belts, rear heated screen, etc. But it is almost there !

For sure I am making myself a nice BIG poster of this. If anybody is interested I can get a quote and see what price it would be ? I'm thinking of about A2 size ... Give me some feedback if you are interested (colours/changes etc. can be done). It's nice to know what sort of numbers would be interested. (My Brother who works in the trade reckons he could shift a few)

I'm working also on a dirty version ....

    Update - Studio style images

I have been playing with the new software and trying to create the Studio look - like you find in the magazines. Still need to do a dirty version ...

Looking inside (next time I wind the window down first !!! ) :

Close-up of the front. This gives you some idea of the detail I want for my poster

Any chance of you doing one of those AVI files, maybe a 360 degree view round the whole car?

Or maybe morph it into the Mk2 that you should be working on

Re: Computer 3D model Mk I Escort

Having now just spent around 2 hours going through this thread I am stunned (ignore my comment to Sharon in my earlier post, this was from the bottom of page one before I realised the thread went on for months!! bloody newbies eh!) Enough to say that the work is.. well... erm... ah... er.. speechless!

I will gladly go and photo any part of my mk1 to assist if needs be! Once the man with a plan has it where he wants it I am sure that he will be inundated with requests (do my car do my car etc! what about bubble arches, mex stripes, 2 cibs not 4, rollcage etc etc etc) there has to be some money to be made for such talent!!!!

I take my hat off to you Dave! I will watch this thread with a passion! Oh and p.s. LOVE the lockup! it's got a spare grille out the back like my garage - just missing all the mess and crap that is normally in our Escort shrines!!!

    Update...

Thanks for all the feedback - keep it coming ! Keep pointing out anything you think is wrong. If it passes the test with you guys it'll pass ANYWHERE !

I am aware of the missing creases from the side windows. I might add that later - it is a bit tricky.

I've adjusted the front panel, quite a lot, and the lighting in the scene. Added the extra crease :
