    Re: Behind the scenes look

    Hi Dave

That is just about perfect, BUT seeing as your asking for more things to change then I think that the corner of the window shown below is a bit too sharp on your model.

Could you show us a set of front/back/side/plan views so we can check the overall look of the model??.

Keep up the good work, I'm sure you'll be able to sell a lot of these once you have finalised the model.

    Regards

    David

    Re: Behind the scenes look

Dave, where abouts do you live, would it help if you could get access to a car so you can photograph from every angle?

I'm sure there will be someone willing to let you have a field day with a camera and a MK1.

    I'm in Harlow, Essex.

    Re: Behind the scenes look

Thanks for pointing out the window corner David. I have re-worked the door rubbers and surrounds.

Mk II ?? I would need some GOOD quality plans / blueprints .... if anybody has those ????

retromotorsport : I actually have one of these cars. The only rub is I live and work abroad and it is sitting all wrapped up in the garage (on the West coast of Scotland) !! But we will be re-united over Xmas I have a great many photos at the moment, but nothing beats running your hand over the real thing - so to speak I'll drop you an e-mail there is something I'd like to ask.

Latest - showing re-worked Window surrounds. Sitting on standard alloys :

    Re: Behind the scenes look

Checked out your website Dave, nice touch - I have book marked it and will eagerly await to place my order! - have you thought about some backgrounds for the posters? (the lockup was a great touch!).
Keep it coming - you have a substantial fan base waiting on every new pic (also can you put a pic of the black with dark blue mex on your web - I LOVED than one!!!!)!

    Re: Behind the scenes look

That window corner is so much better now dave See what you mean about that convex surface now, would say make the body line more pronounced, but in the naked drawing it looks fine. Maybe the paint finish is a bit too shiny and its blinding the bodyline????

keep up the excellent work dude

    Thanks guys.

FasterFords : It is a monster of a program. I'll see if I can find some tutorials. Is it something very basic or about car modelling ?

I have added a few different colours onto my web page AND a small Animation ... that will show what the car looks like from all angles. Too big to post here (970kb) - so have a look on http://www.dmmultimedia.com .

Animation looks good, but the rear end doesn't look right to me.

I managed to do a 3d wiggly line yesterday with the software Don't think I'm up to doing a Mk2 RS2000 just yet

Quality!!! Total and Utter Quality. Just read this post from the begining and it took me nearly an hour. Great to see your model develop. Heard anything more from G.S? There now using a pic of a 2000 that looks like its been photochopped by Stevie Wonder.

    Anyway

mmmmm ... I didn't think the tail was that bad ...

There are some creases. Very much a work in progress shot (Still in two halves, window rubber not joined, etc., etc.) :

    Thanks guys !!

With these images and your comments I can see that the rear panel is actually a seperate panel. I'll detach that part and make it so...

I have had a problem at making a huge picture on my killer kick-ass PC

But it renders (slowly) on my latop !! I am trying to work this out

Here is the resolution I am at ... which is FINE for a poster

Fasterfords ... if you are feeling confident with 3D Max now have a look here :

    http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=156460

It is a very good car building tutorial - later on there is a link where yuo can download it as a PDF.

    UPDATE: Nice behind ... ;)

    Hi.

I have been busy with other projects lately - and actually spent some time last weekend cleaning my real car !

Here is an update showing the rear of the car. The rear window and rubbers are still two seperate pieces - and the rear light lenses are not finalised yet. Also need to add Rear Stripes. But it is getting there. I was also experimenting with the silver colour.

I am very nearly finished ... Thinking of what to start next .....

The area surrounding the rear lights that is part of the rear wing has a much deeper indent. It follows the line of the back panel.

Also need some dome headed bumper bolts - otherwise the bumper would fall off

I have those exact blueprints for the MkII !! I am still searching for others ... would love a MKI Capri.

FasterFords : Here is another VERY good tutorial:

    http://www.3dtotal.com/team/Tutorial...iat500_m01.asp

That is more the method I used. I'll dig out one of my early files, post it on my web site and let you see what I was doing.

Modified the tail a bit more :

FasterFords: Here is a fantastic site that I found - explains how to make tyres and car paint etc .... (My methods are almost identical). Very good.
