Whats wrong with using the original rs turbo gearbox? I thought it bolted straight on and its got a LSD too.

Re: Zetec 1.8 and MTX75 Box converted to MK4 Escor

I am gunnign for 300+ at the wheels and i was told that the RST box can only handle 240 before the box starts breaking due to the smaller bearing in the box

I was also told that the MTX75 box can handle over 300+ and higher from some tuners in the US and the fact that it dosnt have a LSD dosnt matter to me I am willing to buy one for this box if i get it to work

Also I bought the 1.8 Zetec with the box

AFAIK the mondeo gearbox mounts onto the subframe but the mounts unbolt and as the mtx box is also used in the RS2000 you should be able to get some of those and bolt it straight in, oh yeah you'll need to get an escort sump and either mod the engine mounts from the cvh or get some escort ones.

p.s how are you gonna sort the hydrolic clutch?

because the exhaust on the mondeo passes under the engine in a different place to an escort/fiesta so the sump is a different shape

you would have been better off with a 2.0 zetec, it has more power for starters and if you are gonna stick with the 1.8 you are best off getting the cams, throttle body (which can be bored out even bigger again), ecu, and bits like that off a 2.0.

have you got any plans for souping up the engine much?

Well heres the engine it will be pulled this week to be fully rebuilded ARP head studs, ARP Rod bolts, Bearings, GGR Group A head gasket, head work to be done when being rebuilded, and a Tuned turbo manifold from the USA oh and as for computer I just bought a Haltech E6X Standalone ECU

Im gunning for 300+ at the wheels and thats why i want to use the MTX75 box cause its stronger overall

Yes Im gunning for 350hp at the wheels when im done

Theres a reason why i bought the 1.8 over the 2.0 zetec
reason being this is being built for racing and if I go 2.0 that will put me in the open class with all the unrestricted Evos and Subarus and trust me i dont want to go there cause some of the Evos in that class have well over 400+ at the wheels
This one for example has well over 500+hp i cant even compete against that
