I have a type 9 gearbox for my mk1 escort, however I was wondering if anyone could help me identify which one it is and whether the bell housing is suitable for a x-flow.
I can provide serial numbers and pictures of it helps

They all fit a x f.
If you google it there's a decent id guide about, possibley Burton site, shows all the ip shafts etc.
Ok Aladdin I will have a poke around on Google.
Yes, I overlooked that

Lots of info here,
As said, different input shafts, different bell housings and different ratios. All have the same bellhousing bolt pattern to fit engine, unless it is a specific one for a different engine (duratec, zetec se, xe etc).

Hello, could anyone identify this gearbox? Not sure where it came from, but possibly mk1 sierra or granada with pinto engine.
Its 5 speed and bellhousing is solid unit with main gearbox body.

I would call it a type 9 with integral bellhousing. Never seen one in person but I have heard about them and Burton mentions that in their gearbox guide.
Unless you have the need to swap bellhousings, I see no issues with that version (that I know of, ratios unknown to me).
