Move handbrake leaver when fitting t5 box??

I have fitted a cosworth engine and gearbox in my mk2 escort and as the gerleaver is now further back, when I'm mounting the handbrake, it hits up against the gerleaver. Do people usually move the leaver back or shorten the leaver?

There's a guy who make a t5 straight lever on eBay , this is what I used ?

In my mk1, I've had to move the handbrake back slightly for the same reason.

The engine is mounted on the World Cup cross member so shouldn't be any further back than usual. I take it my only option is to move the handbrake back as the gear leaver can't be moved?

Have you done this? It will need about 50mm cutting off but the leaver button and a spring are inside there. Can they be relocated 50mm back easily?

I just shortened my lever...if I remember correctly if you grind the end of the button,
it all comes apart,then shorten the lever and rod thats inside... then weld the button back onto the rod

Have just finished this cut it back about 50mm
