    wide atlas on mk1

how much modification would have to be done to fit the axle(from the mk3 cortina). Can i use the original link setup on the diff and modify the floor or is it better to do it the 'normal' 4/5 link way.

And how big would the rear bubble flares have to be to fit this axle.(a pic would be nice)

ps.dont have any narrow or baby atlas here so dont even ask why i dont look for one

The original link set up on a cortina isnt very good for location, so if your gonna have to add the links to the shell for it, you might as well fit proper ones in my opinion.

I also dont think the cortina axle is an atlas (at least they werent over here) although it looks like one at first glance, should be stronger than an english though, i know plenty of cortinas are running around with 200bhp 24 valve engines in em and surviving ok.

The 6-cyl. Taunus uses an Atlas axle. The 4-cyl. have, what we cal a German axle. he only difference is in the flange.
Look at www.oldcars.de to see the difference. The site is also in Englisch.

I've bought a 3.44 6-cyl. axle. The guy from wich i bought it, has put 250 brake on it without breaking it (2.9 turbo)

"The only difference is in the flange."
That is they look the same, but internal, they are different.
So in the 6-cyl. axle fits an atlas LSD.

hmmm. in Finland we have Atlas axles in 2.0 Pinto Taunuses too..

here Taunus 1600 comes with weaker Köln axle like one in your picture.

    Cheers,

but if the axle is the weaker one is it still stronger than the english axle and can a take about 300bhp.

ps.that type of axle is the closest we have atlas(s) all the capri's have been wrecked years before i started this game.
