Cool Adam Brown 17 and restoring tractors and a ford escort 1300xl newbie

Hello been on the forum a week or 2 and posted a couple of threds and i would just like to say thank you for all the helpful information and constructive comments really helping get on with the car. Lots of nice guys around with a wealth of experience and know how. Very friendly forum.

Got into classic cars after my tractor restorations. i try to go to as many vintage rallys and steam fairs as i can love the old stuff. So much more charm than the modern muck.

    My restorations as follows:
1965 international b275 industrial tractor (won the kelsall cup for best restoration) And was featured in Tractor magazine (tractor equivalent of classic ford)

1949 fordson e27n major tvo ( was my first restoration and was a good tractor to learn engine basics: side valve 4 cylinder, magneto driven, hand crank, as b

    current projects:
1974 Ford escort mk1 1300xl 4dr ( currently doing all the floors as they are rotten as a pear)

hedgerow tef 20 Ferguson (least optimistic project yet) a real basket case

when im at home i am a tractor restorer but i hope to get into classic cars the reason i chose the escort for my first is my dad used to rally the mk2 cortina and offend stumbled on old escorts and one day whilst rummiging through a box of car spares dizzys rads and the like i found a dash board from a Mexico and some cibie spotlight covers. From that day on i had my heart set on an escort after seeing ho good they looked at the rallys. Purchased the car from Ireland and paid a measly £2000 for her in February this year off ebay mainly due to most other people thinking it was a scam and its distance at the other side of Ireland in Galway

Hope to get to know alot of you on here and im sure i will end up asking ( to some of the vets may seam) face palm obvious questions, but im sure i will come out in the end

Thanks for reading and you all have made me feel very welcome

You seem to be going the opposite way to me and Mk1Matt.
We've done Escorts and are now onto tractors.

Nice one on the Kelsall Cup. I was probably there and we probably saw each other.

Nice one Adam I have worked at a main dealer ford now new Holland since 86 and never got into the classic tractors in my spare time my theory being you can't use them once you have done them but have always had classic Ford's rallying one back in the 90ts now owning a mk1 which keeps me happy tinkering good luck with your build I'm also not far away from you.

    Welcome to the forum buddy
Another tractor and classic ford fan here. Love going to the steam events and shows as well as doing the odd run out for charity. Only got the use of Helens dads 135 at the minute and it still gets used on the farm so its in "working condition" not pretty and restored. He worked for Darlington Council when they bought it new in 1968, he loved it that much that when they decommissioned it he bought it for himself and its still going strong 47 years later.

Me and her dad at a charity run in March
