    Vinyl roof query

    Hello all!

This is my first post as I am new to RS ownership (1978 RS2000 X Pack in Diamond White).

My car will be having a respray in the Winter and I am looking at the long term view with regard to what to have done.

I am wondering whether to have the black vinyl rook removed and have it sprayed the same colour as the car (i.e. the car will be Diamond White all over).

Should I do this or keep as is?

    Hi m8,

welcome to turbosport... get some pissies up of the car!!!
Personally i'd bin the vinyl roof but then again I just don't like them. doubtless loads fo people on here will disagree. At the end of the day, it's your car so do whatever you would prefer!

    Cheers,

    Hi there, welcome to Turbosport.

I would say keep the roof if yoou like it.

I think they came from the factory like this so unlike that other nemesis of the MK11 - the pop up sunroof - I think they are OK.

Vinyl roofs are ok(mine has one) but i will be removing it shortly as i am respraying thw whole car. I prefer them without and they trap moisture well, causing the roof to rot.

    Nice rep. there Ian.

A well fitted and sound vinyl roof won't let in water, nor trap condensation.

If your's is a bit tired, you've really got to either replace it with a new one , or get rid of it.

A nice piece of work either way, but it will improve the car.
