    DIY Pedal Box?

Anyone here made their own bias pedal box from the standard mk2 pedal box?
Just looking through the magazine and it doesn`t look that much different to the normal pedal box, with 2 master cylinders bolted to it... And it would work out a damn site cheaper...
I dont want to jepordise my safety though
    Anyone got any comments/suggestions?

No idea, but you could get rid of that Nova in your sig and put an Escort in there.

tells you how to do it in the rally prep book, but you have to start with a mexico pedal box, think it works out just as cheap to buy a bias one.

That's for a mk1 Escort though - the Mk1 Mexico pedal box has a hydraulic clutch cylinder on it already, the MK2 pedal box is different, and the plans in the Rally Prep book are based on the Mk1.

    Re: DIY Pedal Box?

Most companies charge less for Mk 2 boxes than for Mk 1 boxes for some reason. I have bought a Mk 2 bias box for my Mk 1 and all but one mount is the same and this problem is easily solved by a small bracket. Considering I saved over £40 and hours work making the bracket is nothing.

You can get new boxes Mk 2 for about £160 and second hand for less than a £100,

    Re: DIY Pedal Box?

Using a Mk1 unit alows one to use a GRp4 style throttle pedal,. This allows u to get correct leverage for side draft webbers.
The upper brkt on a STD MK1 unit provides conciderable support to the assembly eg strength and lack off flex.

    MK1 Mex /Twink & STD MK1

On the left is mex/TwinCam on right is STD Mk1.
Looking closely, u can see they are virtually the same base unit.

    The top part is different.

They have trimmed the sides of the mex/TwinC for some reason.

To convert units to bias adjustable the top part would have to be replaced on both.

    Re: STD MK2 pedals - 2

    Hi all

I ended making my own bias pedal box as I was disappointed by the variation in quality for the money paid.

    Modified OEM pedal box
    7/16 Tilton ballance bar
    Zinc plated

I'm now having enquiries with these with a cable clutch - does anyone have any pics or drawings of the OEM pedal modified for a master cylinder.

    Cheers
