LSD help
I have just removed the LSD from my scrap 2.8 Special Capri in preperation of fitting to my Mk 1 Escort. When I spin the wheel the other wheel spins in the same direction, which is good. However, I always though it should spin the other way at first, then lock and spin the same way. Does this diff sound right to you? The car was being used for 1/4 mile runs and the owner assured me it was an LSD, but has he welded it solid? Or is this a sign the LSD plates are worn?

Re: LSD help
sounds good to me unless mine was welded to.

Re: LSD help
Just take the back cover off and have a look inside, and by saying "removed the lsd" you mean you have taken the back axle off??? because unless you have the tools to put a diff and CWP back in the atlas case dont take it out.
These are just some of the tools required, and allthough I have the tools to build diffs, I still send them to Salisbury Transmissions, 02084433223.

Sounds good to me aswell
Try holding one wheel still while turning the other, it should be impossible if the LSD is in good condition

Re: LSD help
I have just removed the whole diff, I know that removing the actual LSD unit is beyond my humble skills. I will remove the back plate and have a look tonight, fingers crossed.
