Thats not a diff, its an axle. The differential is inside the the bit in the middle along with the crownwheel and pinion. It's an English type axle as fitted to Escorts. Undo the end flanges through the holes in the shafts and pull the shafts out 6" then undo all the bolts holding the big lump in the middle to the long bit, pull the diff housing away and take a pic of the inside, then post it here and we will be able to tell you wether is an LSD equipped diff
This may be of use to you

So in me answering your sarky remark puts this thread back to the top
thanks for all the imformation on the rear axle(to us here in NZ a diff)i bought it for $100 will wait till it gets here will undo the 4 nuts and bolts (per axle)behind the axle flanges slide them out about 6 inches and then undo the nuts holding the big lump(diff head in NZ ) will remove and check ratio and lsd or not All i wanted to know was did anyone recognise the complete diff housing not a 1/2 arsed discription of the parts and taking it apart
thanks for all the imformation
As you may notice I did say it is an "english axle" more correctly called Timkin Type, that is the name of the axle, and also that it came off an escort, by your omission of a location in your profile and your discription of an axle as a diff, I wrongly assumed that you where new to this type of car. For that i will say sorry, as for the 1/2 arsed discription, by simplifiying the terms, i.e 'big lump in the middle' complete novices will understand. once again sorry if my assumption of you being a novice upset you.
