    Re: A Good Friends MK1 - Part 2 - Arches

JUst asked a fucking question . If u feel insulted by it then thats your rasshole problem.
It doesn't read as a question more of a statement that you thought Gary was using the wrong Tubing and I personally think that Gary's response was quite mild given that he makes his living doing fabrication to a high quality every day. You only have to look at some of the other threads here and in the tech section where Gary has tried to persuade people not to mess around making their own cages but to either buy a new one of the shelf or get one fabricated as this is one area of safety that could for the sake of a few quid cost very dear in the long term . And therefore rather than attacking Gary for feeling insulted and apology might be in order , misunderstandings happen all the time but it only takes a few seconds to correct if you are man enough . I have personally seen Gary's handiwork and I dont need to tell any of the regulars on here how good it is but a casual visitor could quite easily be put of by comments such as yours

I would like to add that I have no vested interest in saying the above other than in the relatively short time I have known Gary he is always willing to give free advice and that speaks volumes for Gary's genuine desire for us ALL to have safe and fast cars

For anyone still unsure let me just make the point that Gary would be the LAST person to ever take short cuts and to suggest this when it comes to a critical safety item... well need I continue.

Oh and Gary is fitting a full weld in, multipoint cage to my 'gulf' mk2 this month... Nuff said

Keep up the good work Gary
Now can we all be friends again

    Re: A Good Friends MK1 - Part 2 - Arches

Ratters it is coming alone very nicely, gary has just begun the mods (he thinks hes nearly finished ) however the list is getting longer. A dummy engine is on its way to Retro so the mounts can be made.

I have the engine built and now apart again as I need to rethink the power delivery.

Gearbox is at HT Racings having the bellhousing made.

Gaz are sorting the suspension side of things with a set of Tarmac spec dampers.

Just need a few mechanical bits now and a million screws and we should have a car by the end of March

Hi, car looks awesome, im seriously considering getting bubbles for mine now :hmm:

Anyhow can i ask where you got these repair panels from - and what's the name of the panel, or does it come as part of a spare wheel/petrol tank well repair?

Theres probably more of the auto tunnel to come out as yet, as today was just a look see. I need to make sure that that Huge box can come out easily, as I'm fabricating the cover, it would be foolish to make it too tight that the x-member has to be dropped just to change the clutch.

It shouldnt take up a great deal more space than the auto tunnel, so the new tunnel is about 1/4 " wider than an auto one. Loads of room, Clint is called "twinkle toes" remember...
