These pictures do not do justice to the amount of underseal that had to be scraped off.

Just the hours that went in to doing that.......

Now now Sharon, surely Clint has told you. Escorts are an Immaculate Conception By God and they can drive on Water, Nay they can even part the seas, chop down mountains with a wave of a hand, (or was that Hendrix) They bring warring sides together, they are what is truely good in this world ov evils...
Hold on did I read the wrong book last night,, they're just the bollox.. arguement over..

I didnt realise the size difference was so much between a standard tunnel and an Auto one, its not until you see them back to back you see how much bigger it is.

Re: A Good Friends MK1 - Tunnel Size Difference

Clint with that auto tunnel...where do the gearbox xmember mounts line up as standard...is it for a 4speed or type 9 5speed? And is there any cutting of the lever hole to fit the 5 speed too if you know....just seems easier for a 5 speed conversion if the mounts and hole line up??

Re: A Good Friends MK1 - Tunnel Size Difference

Dave,a 5spd type 9 will bolt straight to a auto tunnel,if you use the auto mount.
But you will have to weld the orignal gearbox lever hole back on the top.

Hmmmm And im guessing the lever hole only has to go on to allow you to fit the standard gaitor?? Of does the lever hole need to be moved anyways cos the auto selector comes out in a different place??

Well at one time it had all its panels fitted today

Thanks to Escort-Tec for finding me a very nice set of early doors, for an excellent price

Thanks to Bodney and Mk1Morley for the wings.

Thanks to Smiffy for the help aligning the wings the car really looked like we had moved on today, I am quietly pleased.
