red top whats involved

first thing 1st mes a newbie so take it easy on me just got my hands on a mk2 (RS replica)already running a 2ltr pinto but think engine on way out . body work no problem will play about with that but was wondering what is involved if i was thinking of dropping the vauxhall 2ltr 16v red top in the engine bay ??? pros and cons????????????? any info would b great cheers

As for putting the xe in an escort i`ll give you a rough guide

chassis mount it or wcxm and special eng mounts whatever you do i think the bulkhead will need some modding
sump from a 1.8 manta or modify the org or buy an after market 1
change the bellhousing and clutch plate u can use a type 9 5 speed box
twin 45 are best for the fueling or throttle bodys etc if u got the dough
electrical side is a dizzy conv that bolts to the side of the engine (see my siggy pic) now like hens teeth SBD did make them but stopped about a year ago this limits you to the power as its a bit primative
or SBD do a eleccy ign pack etc not cheap but its fully mapable and with 45`s should give around 170 brake on a standard engine

if u use the manta sump the engine has to be mounted on a 7 degree slant and all the bits bellhousing,inlet man etc need to be the 7 degree ones

do u no if u can buy like a kit with the mounts and bell housing and sump????
if so any ideas where from ?
