How much an rs1800 gearbag worth??

Anybody know how much a 4spd rs1800 box is worth

?
A guy I owe £70 quid to for some escy bits wants it plus a rusty (arn't they all)pinto 4 into 1 manifold whotsit to pay the debt off.
I'm sure i've seen them for more and I dont want to get ripped off.. I thought the box would fetch at least a ton or so.
He's a top bloke but also the kind who'd put it on ebay afterwards for about £150.
Hope he isn't a member here or he might withdraw the offer and out would come the

Also, how can i see if my english axle has an lsd. It's somthing like if I hold one wheel and spin the diff the other wheel should be locked, or should it turn??
The axle is now out of the car and this guy wants it too but he's had a look at it and after the hmm....hmmm....hmmm.. he said it didn't have one.
Best be sure eh....

Isn't a RS1800 gearbox just another "type E" same as fitted to a RS2000/ Cortina??

Can't see it being worth much, £50 is probably top money for a 4speed road car box, has it got bellhousing and quickshift? maybe worth more then

to check LSD turn one wheel and see if the other turns same way, that isn't a gauranteed test though as if it has a tight standard diff it may do this.,

A normal diff (non lsd) will turn the opposite direction.

Not sure about Quaife ATB's I don't touch em

best way to be sure is to take it out of the axle and look at it, no guessing then

I belive the rs1800 box to be the same as cortina/rs2000 ----2000e box, but has shorter ratios so is ideal for someone that has a roadcar and wants a little bit more acc. Looks like I'll let him have it then. (have to get Clint to delet this message too so kev don't see how much it's worth

As fo the diff the other wheel spins backwards so I assume it's standard so without stripping it (as can't be bothered) I reckon i can safely let Kev give me some dosh for it. I'm gonna be using a volvo axle on the car (thanks Tepi for info on that) next season as it seems up for the job at a sensible cost...

BTW Mark, did you get what you wanted for that n/a cosy motor or is it still for sale? I don't want it myself as I think i'm gonna go vauxhall but I may know someone who might be intrested it if it's still up for grabs.

The RS1800 4 speed has different ratios to the RS2000 and Cortina 2 litre boxes.

It has the same ratios as a V6 2.3 Granada, but with a shorter input shaft to fit the BDA. The gearset is based on a Mustang box btw (Anorak on and fully zipped up).

Very small market, £50 tops I reckon.

i think 1 to 4 ratios are same as in 2.8i V6 gearbox

. Iv'e now given him the box and am debt free "Yippee!".
Now i just need to find a truck load of cash and get hold of another bag 'o' cogs of the dog eng. type and thats big time 'cha-ching ££££££££'..

my rs18 had a bdb in it not a xflow based bda??????????
