The guide to fitting a zetec for RWD?

Hi. I am seriously considering this for my next escort hopefully finished in maybe 1-2 years time? Will probably be 1600 or 1800 zetec as they seem easier to fit and still nice and powerful. Just read through the other posts in here and there are no real definate answers

We have the modify lots for the dunnel sump and engine mounts option, and the other retro escorts engine mounts leave bulkhead looking pretty option! So i guess a list of all the parts for each conversion would be a good start, so if say gary (retro) were to list the parts needed to do the dunnel style zetec fit in the gulf escort. And then someone else say the bloke with the zefect to list what he used and anyone with one in their escort but keeping it simple so no major bulkhead mods, etc such as tepi to list the parts for theirs.

Also what happens with the loom, and then the options for igniton from people who are running them so they know they work....rather than word of mouth ie "a mates mate has got...." Also what gearbox/bellhousing/clutch/flywheel/etc to be used. Also inlet, how do you go about keeping the injection, what set up for a standard twin choke weber carb, and then for twin carbs or throttle bodies.

Please try to keep the post clutter free as it would be nice to have a good post as a sticky or for the archive such as lincolndanny's type 9 post?

    Looking forward to your replies
    Cheers guys

Just look at my website its dedicated to fitting the ZETEC to the Mk 1/2 Escort. Anything I have missed can soon be added. Don't bother with the 1.6 ZETEC either becuase even after spending £1500 on tuning it will still have less power than a standard 2 lt or RS1800 spec 1.8.

I was just thinking for standard just to get the set up in there and working and insurance friendly and most importantly reliable!...not for big power, as obviously there will be those like me who are younger and cant really afford big engines with mods etc. Thanks for the link, will check it out now

i'm now having a pause with my project....

upper bulkhead lip shortened and gearbox tunnel raised, battery goes into trunk.

    rs2000 bellhousing + type9 + mondeo 1.8 flywheel and clutch and 1-piece hd prop.
