Is a rear view mirror an MOT requirement,,?
I need to MOT my car this week but the rear view mirror has fallen off the windscreen - is this a requirement for the MOT or will I have to stick it back for it to pass?

You need one offside door/wing mirror and EITHER an interior mirror OR a nearside door mirror.

Pitstop is right, if you have both the exterior mirrors you don't need the interior one.

My old RS passed with just the interior one-no wing/door mirrors fitted.

Depends on the mot station, my dad was a tester for 12 years and only passed vehicles that had a offside and one other mirror.
Mexeco - the tester may have decided that your rear view was adequate- possibly because of the age of your car.

Re: Is a rear view mirror an MOT requirement,,?
A car first used before 1st August 1978 only needs one rear view mirror. It can be internal or on either side of the car.
After that date, they must have two mirrors, one of which must be on the offside of the car, the other can either be internal or on the nearside.

Look in the MOT section. Everything you could possibly want to know about MOT's
Maybe an idea if someone made this a sticky as there have been a few MOT questions recently
