As far as I know it goes the wrong way, finda 1.8 ltr engine and get the pump. While you are at it get the lighter 1.8 flywheel.

this is pic of my 2.0 blacktop waterpump, and i think it's same for 1.8 blacktop.
but with older silvertop, where pump mounting is totally different, you can change direction of rotation just using 1.8 pump.
    Cheers,

I am also interested in what to do, I need to get the water pump spinning in the opposite direction for my installation. Is there another pump out there that can be used?

Re: black top zetec water pump

Hey guys, I wonder if you can help me I am wondering the same thing as some of you.
What waterpump to use to change the rotation from a stock 2L zetec to work with just Alternator, waterpump and crank configuration.
The problem is there are no 1.8 escorts in Canada so getting one is rather difficult.
Could someone find the part number for this pump? And post it up, It would realy help.

Depends on what kind of zetec engine you are using.
Is it a silvertop zetec you can try to get a hold of a waterpump from a european escort 1.6 or 1.8 zetec.
Is it a blacktop zetec you are out of luck as they all rotate in the same direction

    regards Tazzie

Re: black top zetec water pump

just removed pump from my year 2000 blacktop.
    here are the piccies...
was thinking to search different car makes and models to get reverse direction blades.
pinto has quite same size wheel with straight blades, could work also.
my friend is a cnc machinist, think i better show it for him too, maybe he is interested to fabricate one for me.

With Retro Fords kit there is no need apparently to change the water pump as an additional idler is fitted above the water pump pulley thus maintaining the original direction of rotation. Have a chat with Dave College at Retro Ford as he is extremely helpful

yes, idler is the easiest way to make it work. but when you want things to look simple and more period seventies you need reverse blades.

You could do away with the water pump and run an electric water pump instead. I believe David White did this to his zetec.

Yep a Davies Craig water pump is a really good way , but I believe that if you speak to Dunnell or Raceline they will sell a replacement pump or reversed impellor.
They are doing hundreds of these conversions so I cant think that they wouldn't have an off the shelf cure by now
