New workhorse

Bought myself a dream car/van last week. At least for me.
The combination of a double wheeled Tranni Mk1 + Ambu. with the Taunus on it.

I bought it in Germany. It's an old firefighter, wich only covered 17.000 miles. It's perfect, and only has a few spots. Only bummer, it has an 1700cc V4 engine. This wil be replaced by an injected Pinto. I'm wel happy although the car-park has grown to yet 4 cars.

if you bin the V4, you can bolt a V6 straight on by the way, ive had a 3 litre tranny ambulance and they do shift a bit! your sposed to use the diesel front panel to give enough room for the rad, but you can just get away with the standard one if you play around with things a little.

It's a shame they never where deliverd in V6 form in Holland. I know that ambu. and police vans where fitted with the 3.0 Essex. Does a 2.8 also fit straight on the gearbox?
I bought it in Germany, so its not registered in Holland yet.
Because the V6 van never existed in Holland, i can't put a V6 in it .
In Holland nobody seems to know allot about thes vans.
I've got one question: Wich 5-speed will fit the Transit without tampering the van?

The rear already has bubbles. Would be proper cool to fit them on the front aswel. Lower it 4 inches......

i think you can fit the type 9 box onto the essex if you use the bellhousing from the 2.5 litre essex mk1 granada. so IF yopu can find a bellhousing it should bolt straight onto the V4, probably be easier to just use a sierra pinto engine with a 5 speed already on it though.

the pinto in the transit was a low compression engine, so if you stick the injection version in, you'll be 20bhp up over standard straight away.

if you plan on using the van a lot dump the v4 I have heard very few people say good about it.

If you can afford it go v6 as you get a hell of a lot of grunt.

The V4 has been sold to a Saab driver. He wanted it for his Saab 96. He paid 300 pounds for it
But i must say the engine ran and looks like new.
In Holland its very difficult to transform a 4-cyl to a 6-cyl.
The dutch ford importer never sold Transits V6, therefor its difficult, if not impossible, to get one registered. For now i'm going to put a Pinto in it. If a car is from <1973 its very easy to change the size of an engine. Maybe i'm going to "make" mine older, when i find documents from a <73 van.
Then i'm even skip a V6, and getting myself a "Yank" engine

But this thursday it's going to get registered as a Dutch van, i bought it in Germany. Hope everything is fine, so i can start driving it.
It actually drives very wel in town with it's 5.63 diff
