    2.8i single leafs

I am thinking I must have too much time to spare The Cortina is being dismantled this winter in an attempt to fit a bigger better gearbox, im fed up changing broken LT77s so im upgraging to a Supra box with a homemade rose jointed remote quickshift. Whilst I was laying under the car just thinking about my task ahead, for some reason I started looking at the rear end, springs to be exact, I am using Capri singles at the moment with 2" lowering blocks, the springs were dearched by Leda and are nearly flat. I hate lowereing blocks and want to get rid of them as they have made the car harder to launch without spinning the tyres, but I still want to keep the car at the same ride height, I know I can go beck to Ledas and get the springs dog legged but they look shite and dont work very well. I was wondering if there are any real reasons why I cant turn the spring over to in effect reverse eye the spring and have it re-arched to give some spring back into them, i can see the obvious one would be is you are supporting the weight of the car on the eyes rather than on the spring and would that be a major concern??.

As far as i know this can't be done or should not be done because of safety concearns
If you use decambered rear single leaf springs it will lower your car safely without the need for blocks. this should give a lower ride height by 2-3 inches.

    Re: 2.8i single leafs

    Hi
I can see me ending up with a Pudddymobil rear suspension, The set up I have at the moment is using the single leafs, top adjustable spax, and a 3 bar set up + Panhard link, the 3 bar link is a single link that runs from the top of the diff casing and to a mount in the prop tunnel, the bottom links are semi floating, similar to the koni Anti tramp kit that used to be sold for Anglias, [for those of you that can remember that far back] The set up works as the car has run 1.76 60ft times at the pod on road tires, but to get the car as low as I want its still on lowering blocks and I hate lowering blocks
