    Duratec or Zetec ?

What the cheapest and easiest to fit in a 2.0S Capri ?

Preferably running fuel injection and not carbs.

I'm going to look at a cheap one, but the engine is wankered.

    Why??

V6 it for next to nuffin

or if you want to do a conversion to summat different and spend money fit a cossie turbo.

Can't see the point of Zetec in a heavy car like a Capri, you will need to spend a fair bit to get more than the 160bhp the injection had

    All IMHO of course

My thought was to fit a lighter engine and fibreglass bonnet to make it handle better.

my 2.8i didnt seem to handle much different to an escort to be honest, when it slid sideways, it was on more of an angle than an escort would have been, but other than the turn in being slightly slower feeling i doubt there would be much in it if you raced capri vs escort, with the same bhp per ton.

The Capri isn't a heavy car, see that big bonnet from the cockpit just makes you think it is!
Its lighter than a Sierra for sure, don't have the figures to hand, but its no heavyweight anyway......

The Mk 1 Capri shell was lighter than the Mk 1 Escort shell. The Mk 3 Capri will be about 200 kg more than most Escorts. Buy todays standards the Capri is no heavy weight, filler is lighter than steel!!

    Not bad then.

With a fibre glass bonnet and stripped interior it would be even better

wonder what the pinto engined Escorts and Capris weigh, as this would give the best comparison.
