    EMS for XE??

Will soon be in the market for an ecu for our build, running an xe on 45's with cams and a few other bits.

Question is, can I maintain the original vauxhall crank sensor instead of running one of those ugly bolt on trigger wheels? I think the xe has an internal trigger wheel in the crankshaft.

Hoping to run a nodiz as I've heard good things and they seem pretty good value.

Any help or advice would be great!!

Yes you can use it with most systems, the only situ where you need an external wheel is if using a long stroke Frontera crank for a big CC build as these don't have an internal wheel.
    Id use DTA.

    EMS for XE??

Ah good!! It would seem silly to not be able to use it!

Why would you use DTA over anything else? I like the nodiz for its simplicity and no need to have separate coil drivers, what benefits would the DTA have? And as always what's the cost?

The standard trigger wheels have a habit of shattering on higher revving engines.

I just found the DTA software good to use and theres plenty of back up and support for DTA from the likes of QED etc., ive no experience of Nodiz....ive used the std wheels on engines up to 240hp 8000rpm with no issues, much neater than an external trigger wheel too.

No problem at all, ive built numerous XE's with that power on std trigger wheels.

    Re: EMS for XE??

I Know of a few pro built national hot rod engines that have suffered from severe damage due to the internal wheels shattering. Apparently it happens mainly when the original discs have been re-used after being taken off for cleaning.

I doubt that the likes of Anderson, Longhurst, Toovey and co would over-tighten any thing.

I had an Anderson national engine that had a std trigger wheel. Maybe they do go but I've done about 12 XE's and never had an issue, I've always though the std wheels to be more robust than the pulley mounted ones, there's very little mass in the std trigger wheels, for once to fail it would need to have a defect.

Nationals HAVE to use std trigger wheels, to avoid this issue Anderson and co used new wheels when they were available.

They have to be in the original position and std sensor has to be used but that's all, you can fit a different type of trigger wheel in the original position on an XE, the normal type thin trigger wheels need spaced out or a bespoke one made.

It must be the std trigger wheel that's used

A stand corrected as nhr35.5 does now state that a aftermarket trigger wheel can be used

Could be because they fail right enough though but national engines are pulling up to 8k rpm a decent rally spec XE is ok with the std wheel, I don't really like the exposed sensor set up on the front pulley. Especially on a rally car. They don't sit in the best place on an escort ....6 oclock

Probably because you can't buy new ones from Vauxhall anymore.
