New MOT procedures.

Instead of logging on using a smart card and MOT machine, you must log on via the Internet now. The garage I which am still registered to carry out MOT tests from went live last week. I carried out an mot test the other day using my iPhone! I can 'log on' in theory from anywhere through my phone. Just wondering whether I can do MOTs when I'm on holiday in Spain next week.

Only joking about that last bit of course!

We went live last week and all went well last week , But having trouble now ! Did a Jag on Saturday logged in and brought up all details full vin , date of reg, engine size and colour but make and model unknow !!!!! And I can't re enter it or change it!
Tryed ringing help desk 3 days running and can't get thru due to ( we are experiencing unusually high call) lol
In general I think it's going to work well. But miss the vehicle specific information especially when our rollers need the weight entered 1st to calculate results

The old smart card system had its own secure line as well.. Even if ur internet at work went tits up that still worked normally

I haven't done another one recently but I got email notifications that the system was down for one day over the weekend and again yesterday. Just like the early days of the outgoing system,

the thing is we do all sorts of sensative and secure things like banking, taxes, applications and all manor of legal stuff on line so why should an mot be any different?

yep ours was down yesterday and i couldnt do one mot al day i wounder why they kept going on about contingancy testing shows how much confidenece they already have in the new system.regards smart card i would of kept it , it was a safe way, now you risk computer security .

2 on Monday
As a small independent offering mot s as a service it's a pita
Feel sorry for the test stations it's a total joke
