Hi All, i am new to this forum and also to the escort clubs ! i had a couple of mini cooper s's but now i would like to try something different. i have purchased an escort mk1 date 1971, it currently is in pretty good condition. my plan is to restore the bodywork, place some bubble arches of which i have already purchased and install a Mountune 2.5duratec engine. The engine is a brand new block and head. Everything inside will be steel and also the engine is going to be stroked to 2.4 hopefully giving the car more power and revs. the engine is going to be running on obviously an ecu and injectors etc... that's enough about the engine. i will be fitting a Toyota supra differential to the drive train, some machining will be done in order to carry this project out but everything is possible my problem is as my mechanic wishes me to purchase the wheels and tires in order to start shortening the drive train. I'm confused in whether i should use 13 inch or 15inch diameter wheels maybe some of you experienced people can help me out? i also would like to know if we get to figure out what wheel size to use the diameter as most wheel companies don't produce wheels above 12 inch width..or maybe you can help me with that also?
the car is going to be road legal, but is going to take part in hill climbs and sprints when possible.
