Mk2 escort black / yellow wire in main loom

Sorry other thread i said brown i meant black and yellow.. Doh

Hi all, in the mk2 loom i have 2 black and yellow wires , one is coming from the fuse board and the other from what seems the ign switch? On the wiring diagram , one goes to the coil and the other to the starter motor but which one goes where ? I.e does the wire from the fuse board go to the coil or starter? Then i will know where the other goes .

Hope someone can help me - thanks in advance

Black/yellow is the switched +12V from ignition-switch to fusebox (fuse 6) + also in goes into the loom to the front.
Inside the loom there is a resistorwire (for the coil).
Near the startermotor it splits into 2 wires, one goes to the startermotor, the other goes to the + of the coil.

    Hope this helps.

Ahhh i think i have got confused here- mistook on of the other black and yellow (coming from loom) whixh is the horn one i believe!?

So the black and yellow one from the fuse board coming back is the one i need then! Funny thing as it doesnt split into 2 wires its just the one - possibly someone has chopped the other side of in the past?

Guys i have just checked and the black and yellow wire that comes from the fuse to feed the coil, has a pink wire someone has put in it as well.. I assume this is a ballast wire? If i remove this pink wire coild i juts run it straight to an electronic ignition set up and not bother connecting it to the starter motor then? Just thinking out loud here and hopefully on the right track?

Yes, pink wire in some looms (UK) is the std resistorwire.
You need to remove it for electronic ignition (bypassing, replace with normal wire).
But some ignition-locks do not give +12V to the ignition when starting.

When wiring an electronic ignition can I run I feed directly from a 12v source via a switch and just leave the resistor wire in the loom? Or do I have to also disconnect the resistor wire from somewhere?

as above - black/ yellow splits one to solenoid which feeds 12v direct to coil when cranking and one goes via pink resistor to coil for running (9v)
if you rub a feed direct as asked then just tape up the 2 original feeds to prevent a short. ( assuming you are feeding coil via your own feed to ?)
