Surely painting areas that you don't see is a bit pointless? As long as they are sealed - epoxy primer or similar - wouldn't that suffice? If the painter is going to paint areas that are important and visual, I doubt he'll be masking the non visual areas so they'll get various degree's of overspray? Only if it was a 'show type' rally / race car with a stripped out interior would a good finish be necessary. Or am I a lazy git?

was thinking more about the resale value of the car if I did it as I presume people will be pulling back the carpets if they're a serious buyer.
katana I understand your thinking about overspray etc but you don't want to pull back the carpet and see a poor or lazy job. If I saw that ide be thinking if he hasn't bothered doing that what else hasn't he bothered doing.
d you use the same paint for the underside also if you want it matching ?

Don't forget in the era these cars were made the factory only properly painted seen panels, so rather than being seen as what someone hasn't done, as how anal have they been to accept the factory correct finish rather than a nicer but incorrect one?
Remember paint costs - spraying labour costs and factories will save on both by not painting 'invisible' areas!

If it's a bare shell paint it all while it's stripped, it'll look so much better.

Definitely. If you have the option, paint it all; floors, under dash, boot, roof, the lot.

I asked the painter when I dropped it off and he said he will just blow over the whole interior anyway but wouldn't really spent any time rubbing it down or anything as ide already done a good enough job for an area you don't see. hopefully be back in a month
