Re: HOW TO FIT A ZETEC - Part 2 - Exhaust

I fitted a ashley manifold and system and whilst the manifold fitted ok the rest of the system was nowhere near the right shape for the car (MK1) and had to be heated and bent and a partial tunnel fitted

    Re: FIT A ZETEC - Part 2 - Exhaust

I've heard a few people say Janspeed are better than the Ashley or the Sportex system and are far easier to fit. I've been looking but can't find anywhere that stock them, can anyone suggest a place?
also do you think they are worth getting?

The standard manifold, am I right in thinking that it is really restrictive? On FWD applications is the Ashley manifold good enough to see gains?

Re: HOW TO FIT A ZETEC - Part 2 - Exhaust

    Hello everybody,

Anybody knows if I can fit the FORD FOCUS 2.0 16 ZETEC EXHAUST MANIFOLD into my escort mk2? Is there enough space? On LHD cars we have servo brake and so is quite tight for the exhaust manifol.

    Re: FIT A ZETEC - Part 2 - Exhaust

jdslgomes - it depends on what kind of water rail you've got. It will not work with the retro ford one - I've tried - there isn't enough space behind the up swept primaries to let the water rail pass behind

I might fit if you use the raceline water rail as it sits closer to the cylinder head.

Retro Ford makes a LHD Escort Zetec manifold, but it's a few £££

    Re: FIT A ZETEC - Part 2 - Exhaust

I looked at using one for my Anglia, sold it to friend that adapted it to a LHD Escort MK2 with RetroFord water rail

Have a look at my earlier post here, also some other LHD manifolds http://www.turbosport.co.uk/showthread.php?t=176226

But aren't Duratec's Offside mounted not Nearside like the Zetec? If swopped one side to the other the outlet would face forward!

I toyed with the idea of using one of the aftermarket manifolds from the US found on ebay.

    Re: FIT A ZETEC - Part 2 - Exhaust

Just a heads up for anyone using a RetroFord stainless 4-2-1 into an Escort with a Raceline water rail..........................Bolt it to the engine first and lift engine into bay from below! If you don't, once the engine is in there is just not enough gap to fiddle the manifold in betwen the rail and the inner wing!
I cheated and took the cyl. head off, dropped manifold into the hole and re-fitted the head - Total PITA!

    Re: FIT A ZETEC - Part 2 - Exhaust

I don't think much choice with the 1.6l EcoBoost due to the turbo being integrated with the header. I've heard the turbo itself tends to deaden exhaust noise quite a bit, so I'm curious if I can use a smaller pipe to save some weight.
