    Re: heater

my sierra was the same , it could be a few things , fubard matrix , but dont they usually leak ..? or airlock , or matrix full of rusty engine crap

air locks are usually easy to do , engine running ... get pressure on the hoses and then twist the water res cap till water is just about to scold you then tighten quickly , may need to repeat a few times

if its the matrix blocked , take a heater bagging of and use a hose pipe to it for a good 15 mins then do it the reverse way , may need to do it twice both ways , and while your at it flush the engine and rad

    Re: heater

Seems odd then, RST always seem to never get hot enough or overheat, at least with me they do

    Re: heater

had a problem wiv mine when mine was showin incorrect reading after i managed to get all the air out of it with a pump/suction thing. it was running hot (well normal heat) but temp gauge was still in red (on mine anyway).
why dont u try buyin a new temp gauge sender, this could be faulty as it was on mine and got ma reading back to normal.

    just a thought anyway.

    Re: heater

have you got the correct rated thermostat????
Maybee worth trying a slightly hotter thermostat. But fit a new temp sensor,so you get a true reading..
Let it warm up, then feel your heater pipes. If there is a large temp differance, then its gotta be your matrix.
have you acess to a temp guage???
If so,start from cold, and measure what temp your thermostat opens..It could be jammed open.Should open about 85-89 o.c

    Re: heater

simple just back flush the heater with a hose pipe not pressure washer. after that flush with hose pipe the correct flow direction and you shall see brown water come out.
its not the matrix cos you would not get any sort of heat if it was dont waste your time or money.
