Cracking job. Made all the same panels for my mk2 cortina. What did you use to do the pressings in the floor panel? They look very well done.

now thats just showing off that is , keep it up , very nice , gave me flashbacks looking at that ,my own had very similar tinworm damage, but my repairs were no where near as quality as that is , green with envy now.

I just did Sils to Cortina. On Monday I start to weld. Previous bought on ebay but they are not even similar to those sills to Cortina (waste of money) so I decided to do it yourself.

BTW... There is another set for sale if anyone needs a good quality.

Re: Ford Cortina Mk1 2-Door Next project

originals would have been pressed not straight folded , same problem i had doing my car , i had to tack and use some 20 odd pairs of vise grips and jack the sill panel up at its top seam from the B post to wheel arch seam, spot the seam from the inside after splitting the join panel in the way ,then jack the sill panel up from the bottom into line ,clamp and weld tack .

Bloody good job on those sills. I fitted ebay specials to my mk2 cortina. They were a very bad fit.

Thanks jv57. Engine plans- Pinto 2.0 but mechanical things will do JD Automotive. I do only the bodywork.

So...One side- sill and a-pillar is done.

madragon199 I did in two parts ... One piece, under seal, one under the fender. I always try to make elements from one piece of sheet wherever possible...like here:

Excellent skills there! Looks like it's in safe hands. What are you using to form the strengthening parts of the panels?

Interesting to see that although the shell was chemically dipped that there is still rust inside some of the box sections etc - I guess that is a result of air not being able to escape and allow the chemical in.

Re: Ford Cortina Mk1 2-Door Next project

Sometimes remains the lees in places where chemicals can't drain away. This must be removed manually...but chemical striping is the best way to get rid of the rust. Also important is the quality of chemistry and time of dipping.
