Atlas + 3i discs?

Has anyone experience in fitted vented XR3i front discs to an atlas axle?
I tried to fit new discs to my car today but the new discs wouldn?t fit over the halfshaft flange.
Measuring the inside diameter of the discs it looks like they are a few mm smaller then the old discs.
Do the discs need opening out to fit over the flange normally? I thought they were a straight fit but obv summert isn?t happening. Or is there more then one halfshaft flange diameter that was used.
Btw, I know when the axle was rebuilt one shaft came from a non lsd 2.8 axle if that's a poss reason? + I measured 3 sets of new discs just in case but non were any bigger

No mate, thats perfectly normal, you need to turn a couple of mm off the OD of the halfshaft flange, and put a bit of a chamfer on the outside edge too to clear the rad on the inside of the disc "bell". Literally a 30 second job for someone with a lathe...

It's an XR4x4 handbrake cable that is rigged up to work as the callipers are of the floating variety. Of course the hydraulic handbrake does all the work really. Hopefully it will get through the MOT like that.

OK no bother, but why are you getting new discs? I'm sure it'd be easier to find someone with a lathe who's prepared to do you a guvvy job. I guess it might be tricky finding another disc which is the correct (same) diameter, thickness, offset, but with a bigger ID bell? Is your call though. Gimme a shout if you get stuck.

Long story but I?m trying to go through the car bit by bit replacing the worn parts.
So I thought I?d renew all the rear brakes as they are worn out. (3i disc rear end previously fitted)

So I bought some ...
Recon calipers
New pads
New discs
Off I went tools in hand ready for action

But the discs didn?t fit n the calipers were for solid discs not vented
Pads look right tho
Atleast I know the score now, cheers

Yes a lathe is ideal but I've turned down the flanges with an angle grinder before as it's only a couple of mm, saves taking the axle apart as well
