as some of you may know my vectra broke down the other day with a loud rattling noise coming from the cambelt cover, first thoughts by a mechanic suggested water pump failed??? have just changed it and it still does it? uts a loud metallic rattling, anyone got any ideas???
Theres a belt tension "type thingie me bob" which has a bearing , they sometimes run dry...Happen to my old vectra 16v sri after i jet washed the engine bay and jet washed all the grease out of it......
Sounded like a bag of nails.....Bet you a tenner its that...
yeah ur right does sound like a bag of nails!!!, any pointers on where i find it? mines a v6

you`ll have to remove the cambelt cover., you might get away with putting some oil/grease in it... but i would change it... dont want it siezing up and throwing the belt off or making the belt jump do you???
Its only plastic they go all the time
