depends what you want from it, v3 is more robust and has ign drivers onboard but v3 or v 2.2 can use an edis to do ign.
firmware version is more important, megasquirt n spark extra is the most comprehensive. check out msefi.com

do you want to make your own ? if so i will give you dimensions.
if you want a set made to fit the webber manifold all i need is the ctr spacing for the ctr holes, and thats it, then i can supply stubs with gsxr t/b(42mm 750) inc fuel rail.
pm me for more info whichever if you want it. times short as i have 3 months max, could be a dole boy next week if union sorts a deal !!!!!!

Thanks for getting back to me. Sorry to hear about the job.

For the moment I am not going to build any throttleodies but will use the standard injection setup on my pinto and control it using the megasquirt and edis. I am hoping that this setup will be somewhat easier and allow me to learn about the megasquirt without having to worry about fabrication etc.

From my reading up on megasquirt it appears that there are two versions of the processor on the v3 boards MegaSquirt-I: (68HC908) and MegaSquirt-II: (MC9S12C64). Megasquirt II being faster and more expensive. Which did you use ?

Also I was looking at Msextra firmware which seems to be very good but the megasquirt n spark probably does the same thing. It is a minefield of choices.

    Regards
    Tom

Re: Thread for throttlebodies, pics and dimensions

MS1/extra is basically squirtnSpark, but with extra features. THey both use teh MS1 CPU, so you would be as well running the extra code. It will allow you to add extra features in the future once you fell happy to do so without anyfirmware updates. I would probably recommend eth hi res code, as its built on top again, but with a higher resolution injector pulsewidth. pulsewidth with MS1 are only a minimum of 1.0ms, with the exception of the high res code, which has a minimum pulsewidth of 0.35ms. Thats almost 3 times more acuracy.

You can run MEgasquirt as basic as you want with squirtnSpark, extra or high res, you can even just use it for fueling and nothing else if that what you wanted. All you do is wsitch off anything taht you dont need. Its easy enough once you have plyed with the setting for a few hours, which is where buying a megaStim comes in handy as you can play before fitting it to the car

MS1 v3 with extracode (hires or not) is a good choice.
MS1 can be updated to MS2.

I was just sent over here from the USA site CEG. Im doing work to my Contour Zetec build 5/99. I have VCT but it will be removd this winter. Finally to my question.

As i am not sure about your engines i must ask. What are you doing about the MAF sensor ? I have my engine with it off once, when cleaning and drove on it in my sub and everything ran horribly.

does anyone know if there is a kit for sale for spacing GSXR throttle bodies? I know Bogg brothers do one but I e-mailed them for a price and it was £120 whcih seemed a bit steep to me.

I won't complain too much, I've bought hundreds of things off ebay and other websites and thats the first time I've ever had any trouble.
I'm gonna keep looking for another few weeks for the spacer and fuel rail kit and if that fails I'll just bite the bullet and bite from Bogg Brothers.

just an update on that website.
I've been contacted by one of the owners of throttle-bodies.com and problem has been solved. Already have a manifold now but I'm getting the spacer kit and fuel rail extensions for a set of GSXR600 throttle bodies instead.

when they arrive I'll post up some pics and let everyone know how they work out.

    Taken from their website...

Also available as an option is a set of new fuel rail tubes for the 750/1000/1300 fuel rails to match the new bore spacings of the chosen spacer kit.

The website makes it clear that it's not for the 600, and the fuel rail extensions are an optional extra popcorn:

Re: Thread for throttlebodies, pics and dimensions

Should be easy enough to figure out if you have a multimeter.

Set the meter to measure ohms and measure between any two wires. Move the throttle and see if the measurement changes. Keep checking the wires until you find one that gives a stable measurement while you move the throttle. These are power and Ground. The third wire is the output and indicates the position of the throttle. If you measure between ground and the output it should read a low resistance when the throttle is closed and increase as the throttle is opened.

    Tom

Just picking up on the spacer issues, I have made fuel rail extensions, alloy spacers for the bodies and welded extensions for the butterfly steel plates plus longer studs from B&Q! I can do all this work and reassemble for £60 if you send me your bodies if it's any help? hope the image is clear. good luck with the project...

p.s. I would need to know your manifold spacings, mine are equal at its a home made manifold, if yours is a bought one chances are it's a 2 + 2

my TB's cannot be individually spaced, something i really should have looked into before buying them i spose.

oh well, it wasnt the end of the world. i made a manifold using 8x mandrel bent 45 deg exhaust bends, plus an inlet manifold flange from work at a grand cost of 60 quid.....

just have to mount the injectors into it now and use the Blacktop fuel rail with some cossie yellows.......

this way i could angle them appropriatley in order to miss the brake servo tower. im going to use the motorbike injector holes with some aluminium tube mounted into them in order to have a take off for the brake servo too.

ball park design, still needs to be matched to the zetec port shape, plus mounts for the injector, bearing housings, TPS mount and throttle lever etc

I made mine seriously more complicated than that to clear the brake booster.. Mine is like the old group 4 IDF(?) weber manifold for a pinto with the 90 degree bend. I didn't think I'd get away with a manifold like that, but it looks like I would have.. Ah well.

Re: Thread for throttlebodies, pics and dimensions

Nah no pics, the manifold is only 3/4 made.. I've made the runners and the flange, but not joined the two yet. I could get a pic of me holding it in place but essentially yeah it is like a twin downdraft manifold.. Like twin IDFs. I've been thinking of a re-design today.. I might cut the 90 degree bend to make a shallower bend. I didn't think it would fit until I saw your pics, I think now i'll wait until the engine is in place to finalise the manifold. My measurements put the #1 runner right on that brake booster bulge..

yeah i just put the engine in and roughly measured that i needed a 45 degree angle and mitred them accordingly.

also, looking at the inlet ports, they are roughly angled at about 45 degrees into the combustion chamber, so effectively the fuel/air mix doesnt have to turn any bends, we will see how effectivelly i can port the manifold to give a nice flow into the combustion chamber

I can't say I've ever seen it. Wouldn't the ideal be to mount them at the same angle as the inlet port if you have space?

didnt realise you posted here, superb site

t/b dont know where they are as far as im aware ? if its for a zetec then my route would be a cvh manifold and adapter plate as one of the xr2 / 3 came with twin dd as i recall? not sure they were webber flanges but close enough to work around im sure
