Looks good - But that is not a real jet engine - I'm pretty sure those flames have been added. And if they flame like that they should show some heat distortion at take-off - and some smoke trails.

A few films used to use replicas like these that have a small prop underneath the plane between the engine housings.

I think it is real, when its turning to take off you can see the air distortion.

Last time i looked at these it was about 2grand per engine and thats without the computer you need to run it. It may be cheaper now though. Problem is that once you run out of fuel (very quickly) your in control of a very expensive stone.

So that is a real Jet Engine ! I stand corrected.

I know some guys who work in combustion for the power industry, and Swiss Air Techics.

Having an actual working Jet engine that size would be hideously expensive to run and keep serviced. The moving parts and tubofan blades must be VERY expensive. Controlling the heat on that size of engine would be a BIG problem - service intervals must be VERY short.

You'd be surprised how simple the internals of these things are. I beleive that there is only one compressor wheel and one turbine wheel.

heres s good link showing what the internals look like
You can see that the compressor is a centrifugal type instead of a linear blade/stator type you'd see in a bigger jet. The turbine stage is more what you'd expect.

Ive seen a large scale (1/6th i think?)FG racing truck kitted out with a jet engine, was bloody mental!

Also a guy who is going for the RC car wheel driven speed record is building a streamliner that has a jet engine blowing a cut in half turbo with the shaft driving the axle. I'll try and find the video of it being tested cos it sounds AWESOME!
