how is the test plate progress going?
How did weekend progress go then freddy?
Any news on when the Duratec one will be started?
Any more updates freddy? any time scales on when you can ship?
Right this has gone on long enough now. I am going to get my arse in gear and say the plates will be finished a week wednesday ready to post out. So the puma/zetec se, final xe plates and the v6 2.8i/2.9 cosworth BOA/BOB plates will all be done. I had a rally to do next week but it is cancelled so i have plenty of time on my hands to get this completed now.
if they are getting finished next week just send me a PM for payment details and i will sort payment now so you can ship as soon as they are ready
Missed the deadline but i have had the drawings back today off my cad cam man and an urgent email has been sent to the laser cutters with the files attatched. Hopefully i can get them finished on the weekend and sent out monday. All on the cutters now really. Again i m relly sorry for the delay it isn't my fault for once though. Lol.
Can you send me a PM with costs (incl. delivery).
Thanks

Did you get chance to get them finished?
PM Sent
All sorted lads.
Had a spare hour so had a quick play at making a bracket to convert the RX8 box to cable using the existing arm rather than butchering the bellhousing and fitting the Type 9 one. I have a fair bit of room inside my tunnel so I think this may be an easier way than converting my cable clutch on the Type 9 to hydraulic.
Basic idea is to add a bracket at the split line and use either a sierra long clutch cable or may need a bespoke speedy cables one but use this to pull the RX8 arm to release the clutch. The only issues is the length of the cable as it needs to go rearward, loop over the top of the box, come forward and loop back into the clutch cable tube in the bulkhead, big letter S.
So, here's a couple of initial pics, bracket may need bending back a bit to get the angle right but will do this once in place. All comments gratefully received.
Simple bracket, needs a bit of refining, shaping but look OK
On box, I know it is not the right cable but you get the idea, will need to slot the arm to get the cable end in.

I'm thinking about doin this on mine when I get chance :-) I've got Sierra cosy cable which is very. Long goes along the rad and back to the fork on other side
Let's hope it works but may pull the fork too much maybe ?

Quick Q's for freddy.
Just looking at putting my RX8 / Puma 1.7 Zetec SE in my Anglia over the next few weeks and did a trial fit of the adaptor plate from you.
All fits fine and the holes line up great, thanks.
Couple of quick questions -
Can i assume that the plate bolts to the engine from the engine side and the gearbox from the gearbox side using the threaded holes in the plate (idiot questions but just checking).
Also, do the bolts need to be exactly the right length as the engine bolt hole at 7o'clock is obscured by the gearbox mating surface, most others seem to have clearance inside the bell housing.
Don't suppose you have a list of the length of bolts that I need ?
Finally, I am assuming I will need to chop the bellhousing to fit the starter motor as it looks like it will foul it at the moment.
Thanks in advance for any help provided.

Not sure why I can't edit the post above ???
Anyway - final one - anyone got any ideas about the easiest way to cover up the starter hole, the round pass through and the long hole on the opposite side to the clutch arm ? is is just a case of ally sheet and tapped holes in the bell housing ?

I'm sprry but i can't answer ypur questions on the bolt sizes on this conversion i haven't actually done the conversion. The best thing to do is put the bolt in and grid it flat or take a little off the flange when the bolt comes through. With the starter i normally grip out the bellhousing untill it clears the starter.
Also with the rx8 starter possition i have just left it open but you can cover it if you like.
Quick Update on progress on my Puma 1.7 / RX8 install.
gearbox ground to clear starter - note starter and plate are both tapped so you need to drill out the starter mounting holes however one of the starter holes does not have enough room to put a standard bolt through (didi not try cap hear but may do later) so currently help on by top and bottom bolt which should be fine.
On engine
All bolted up (ish, forgot to order the counter dunk m10 x 25 bolts so final assembly will have to wait).
First go at a clutch cable bracket, this is a bout as small as I can go, will get it fitted in the car and see if I can go taller and also with a bit of angle in it to get the cable straight with the arm. note this is a stock escort mk2 cable, since the photo I have cut a slot in the arm to get the cable through and it fits well.
Hopefully tomorrow I will try and get it in the car to do a trial fit and work out how I am going to support the gearbox.
Anyone know what the thread is on the two studs on the bottom of the gearbox - looks like it is around m14x1.5 ?

Any pics of how cable slots on fork cheers :-)

Just cut a slot in the end of the arm, will get a pic up later.

Slot is just wide enough to pass the cable through, the metal end fixing is wider than that so should not jump out plus the clutch cable is always under a little bit of tension so should be OK I think.
As you can see i will definitely have to put a bend in the bracket to get it running without an angle so the cable does not wear.
Also found these guys on ebay who will make the escort clutch cable to length so when I have some dimensions I will probably email them.

or Burton do this cable which is expensive but may to the job

Any body thought how there gonna run a speedo with this box

I'm running a ETB digidash lite, was using the Ford Puma encoder on a revotec Type 9 adapter but will revert back to the ETB two magnets stuck to the prop shaft / diff flange + pickup. As i am not planning to use the rear rubber mount I may put the bracket for the pick up onthe two bolts that the mount uses.
What car and dash are you running, there are plenty of electronic speedo's that use a magnetic pickup, even seen push bike ones used on kit cars !

You could always clip your phone to the dash and use an app ?

AND IT'S IN !
Only held on by a couple of bolts until I order a full new set and the rear mount needs sorting but it is in and it fits -
Had to grind off the side lug at the rear as I have some strange gear box mounts for a type 9 (see later photos) -
Looks like I will have room to extend the clutch cable mount so it is in line with the clutch arm (which is a bit tight but should be OK as the engine and gearbox are fairly well mounted on rubber bobbins).
On temporary rear mount
Gear stick looks like it is in the right place
So, jobs to do -
Remake the clutch cable bracket longer and at an angle to match the clutch arm
Measure up and get a quote for a new cable
Make up a rear mount, my first plan was to use the two studs under the gearbox now it is in in the rear mount )when removed) lines up well with a cross member so will use the Cortina type 9 mount I have an make up brackets and a cross member to fit.
Will keep you posted when it is fully installed.
